I figured this would be the best place to ask for help since there seems to be plenty of smart people on here.My old computer recently decided that it doesn't like booting up any more, so even though I could probably fix it, I've decided to take this opportunity to build myself a real machine.I've been looking at specs for a couple weeks now, and I've got my heart set on a few things. The Intel C2D E8500 processor and the eVGA (or any brand) Geforce 9800GX2Those two I am almost DEFINITELY getting unless something drastic changes my mind. What I'm stuck on is the motherboard. I originally thought about running two 9800GX2 in quad SLI but the reviews I've read about that have been less than optimistic, so now I'm pretty sure I'm just gonna stick to one (unless someone knows if things have changed?)So now I just need a suggestion on the motherboard and RAM and a few other questions answered. I'm seriously thinking about overclocking my CPU since I've heard people have great results with it, so I'd probably pick up a seriously awesome CPU fan (I've been looking at the Thermaltake V1), but if anyone has a better suggestion I'd like to hear it.Also, I've got two hard drives sitting in my old computer which work just fine. Is it possible to just plug them onto the new motherboard and retain all my data or will they have to be formatted or something? And if I can't just plug them in, what can I do to get the data off of them and onto an external HDD possibly? One of them is an IDE, the other is a SATA.I picked up this wicked case yesterday too, the Thermaltake VH6000BWS. This thing is HUGE. It could easily fit my old case inside of it. I'm pretty pumped. But yea, that's it. I seriously would just like some suggestions for a motherboard, RAM, and if I can save my data. That's it. Any and all help is super seriously appreciated. Thank you! New Computer Building Help
