Its because someone built it to sell. If you built that yourself youd save a good, well, I don't know, but the computer wouldn't be costing you anywhere near $9000.
this is a workstation motherboard. not a typical desktop motherboard. it's intended for multimedia use like 3d rendering, video editing or anything that requires lotsa processing power.
Because they want to make money, looks like overkill and would be better for a server.
overclocked top of the range processor, 4 overclocked GPUs, 2.5tb of HDD space
