Those are normal temps.Holy Freakin' Crap... GTX280 is HOT
Those are normal temps.
holy cow, those are far and away the hottest GPU temps I've ever had...
Then your other temps were just exceptional. 55-60 idle, 70-80 load is the usual GPU temperature range. So your GTX 280's temps aren't unusually high at all.
with aero off and a room temperature of about 22 celsius, my gtx 280 idles at about 48-50, load @ 75-78. you're within normal temps.
Id say that about normal, my 4850 runs 55 idle, 80 load with 35% fan.
a 4850 on stock fan goes at 70 idle and almost 100 load... with 40 % fan speed and ocd to 675/1045, it idles at around 50 and loads at about 75
reminds me of when i first go my 9800GTX. Compaired to the 6600gt it was insanely hot.
Yeah they run hot. They consume a lot of power, more than the HD4870. I would get a VGA cooler, or attach some more case fans that will help cool the graphics card.
I have the fan set to 90% on my gtx 260, and i idle at around 38C and under load at about 44-45C. Just increase the fan speed.

On stock fan speed I was like 65-70 idle and 85 gaming. Now setting it to 40% fan speed has me at like 50ish idle and 70 gaming.

Anyone know if there are any quieter better aftermarket coolers coming out or in dev for it? Besides water. Something similar to the accelero S1 would be epic :P

Hmm your load temp is fine but your idle temp does seem a bit high. The 200 series are supposed to power off most of the chip when idle, and only consume about 25w. Mine idle's at about 40-44C and loads at about 75-80C. Try manually setting the fan to 60-65%.
