it all depends on what resolution you game at, but with the 9600 even in sli you wouldn't go far enough in crysis, I suggest that you get a single good card like the hd4870 or the gtx280 if you wanna nail crysis.Another ';is this PC any good'; thread
Also Overclock ur CPU and ur video card you should go nvidia video card if ur nvidia motherboard. for sli in future unless you dessire to put a X48
So just telling you.You can get 3.2ghz The Q6660 for Extra 10-15fps that is noticable in game-play cause 2.6Ghz is a lack in gaming
Can anyone recommend some specs that'd run Crysis on high, or even very high? I'm having a PC custom built for a friend, so i literally just need some specs on a piece of paper that i can give to the guy who's building it. I thought the specs i posted in the OP were good enough, but obviously not. :P
Well, thats a good gaming if you ask me. You won't be able to max out crysis, but it'll still be some of the best graphics you've ever seen. I played crysis on low with an 8500 GT and I swear it looked amazing.

[/QUOTE] Good to hear! :D I think maybe people just have higher standards than i do, because i honestly thought those specs were amazing. But it turns out most people i ask on other forums say it's mediocre. :P
shhh stop dissing cryisis at low it really a joke. it like playing XboX 360 First Year of Releash game %26 Ps3 first year of Release game and im not joking. it not amazing. 8500GT is 5% weakr then 7600GT : 8600GT : 5% better hten 7600GT
but ATI IS string back with Downgraded 4850
4200 %26 4450 To Defeat 8500-8600
if he want just cryisis nvidia 280GTX SLI : if he want overall pc perfomances in 95% Of newest game. then 4870 X2
also Resolution
1280x1024 = one 4870 enough. : 1920x1200 =4870x2.
For nvidia it instead : almost enough a singel 280GTX since it nvidia optimized and Biased ATI DIRECT X 10.1 Downgraded
but you want a gear that work. il tell you one at 1200$+
E8500 : X48 : 4870x2 : HX1000wats. FOR future-proof %26 Crossfire in future
Sunbeam Core Contact ultra impossible instal guide. : Or Thermalright 120 Exterme.
Overlcock to 4.0Ghz ur E8500 :
ADD 4GB Of ram 800mhz
Then add a Tower of big size if you want it to be well cool and overclock around 90$ To 150$.
from super med tower to Full SIze tower.
what ur budget ? cause to be honest Crysis is a REALY power hunger machine
if i was you id not go Below 4870 / 280GTX. for Cryisis 1280x1024. all maxed out.
Honestly, i have no idea what 90% of that post says. :PEDIT: and my budget is pretty much whatever it takes to get the best rig.
well that cause you don't know much about pc you didn't understand my point are
The Best rig there no best rig is around 1500-2500$
FOR 24 inch : 1920x1200 : NATIVE RESOLUTION LCD MONITOR
1000$ is about enough for 1280x1024. : 15-17-19-22 inch monitor. AT 1280x1024 NATIVE Resolution
50% OF LCD monitor of 180$-200$ AT 22 inch + ARE 1680x1050 : better then 1280x1024. Estimated user of 1680x1050 over 100,000 for 1920x1200 only a 5,000+ (who did benchmark %26 mention there monitor)
but by 2010 it should climb by x4 since monitor 1920x1200 downed price allot and gpu offer 1920x1200 gaming experiances
So If your not a money problems : IL make you a rig over newegg.. Lower at Desire but take note.
IT depend if the user in the recent 2-3 year WILL go from is 1280x1024 or 1680x1050 to 1920x1200. i can't change is decission. im going 1920x1200 by : next month with my new RIG estimated cost of all the rig piece togeter 2100$ for me
in usa for a whole new build. since i ad already oS + hard drive + Ram.. you may have to pay. or Reduce thing to approach my future rig
Il explain you what my rig will contain
ATI visiontek Lifetime warranty 4870x2 599$
CPU Dual core wolfdale E8600 20$ in sold. 300$ instead of 200$for E8500 reason more overclocking *
Cpu Cooler for Overclocking Thermalright 120 extmree + S-flex 120mm Fans. Will dual fan if temp get too high.
DFI X48 LP Dark Series. 266$. oR UT LP at X48 333$ (With Thermal-right heat-sink north-Bridge ) Im still thinking
PSU (power suply unit : Corsair HX1000wats 220$ = Future proof it can support Allot of Fan / TOwer / 2x 4870x2.
PC case Thermaltake Armor Full Toweer 165$ or il go Armor + full tower for 215$ If it will better
Ram 2GB 800mhz 4-4-4-12 1.9V Patriot memory
OS window XP OEM : will buy a vista by later for newest DX10 gamign experiences probably.
Monitor 1920x1200
Sub total it get around 2100$ for PSU / PC CASE / Monitor you already got like 1000$
cause i tend to buy high Quality monitor / power-supply / case for long long durability like 7 year.
sad that i didn't buy the HX1000wats when it ad a 7 Year Warranty Special on PCCyber in ottawa :)
instead if 5 Year but you know what about warranty it usually work twice as the warranty say. or almost.
by that time it die power-supply will have a new Way to work : dual fan ? triple fann ? One super large fan.
for Extremely Quiet operation who know. PSU from 10 year ago where noise hagg. today there extremely Quiet for there wats
30-50DBa. who know if they don't upgrade there WATS need the part then they will surely upgrade the cooling solution %26 Size
so it get 2x smaller. for 1000WATS unit. like a Generator of Diesel in 1990s there where big as a Refrigerator for 1000wats
now they are Twice Less then refrigerator and do 5500WATS. for a small amounts of Diesel
upgrade and amelioration will always happen. it progress.
i could tell you hundred of example refrigerator of 1980's consume Twice the WATS of our today Generation
and are having huge shaking noise. compare to the one that are 100% Quiet.
for me pc PART are jsut the same they shrink they get more strong they get more heat.
one day i bet all part will be made to work over 200Celicus + hot. without break
current is 90c to 120c (most extreme condition seen)
here is what I found, it can max crysis and any other game Gpu: HD4870x2Cpu: e8400Motherboard: Gigabyte p35Ram: G.Skill (2x2)gb ddr2 1066Power Supply: Crosair 750wCpu Fan: Arctic cooling Freezer 7 proHdd: Western digital 500gb SE16Case: Antec 900DVD burner: Samsung 20xMonitor: Acer 22'' I don't know if you are on a tight budget, but if you want to cut prices , you can change the HD4870x2 to the Hd4870, and change that power supply to a 600w ~650w, and if you are not going to oc ,change the ram to 800 instead of 1066,and rely on the stock cooler instead of the arctic cooling.
Thanks a lot guys, that was really helpful. :D
