Console vs. PC graphics

I'm in the ''Console vs. PC graphics'' argument with my friend (I'm on the PC side). He claims that the 360 surpassed PC graphics until recently. What graphics card/proccesor combo would you compare to the 360/PS3/Wii's ability?Console vs. PC graphics
A Geforce 7800 GTX would be about in line with a PS3 and a Radeon X1900 XT for the 360. A Radeon 9600 would be my best guess for the Wii considering a Radeon 9800 XT could max out Half Life 2 and no Wii game looks as good as that game. Bottom line is, PC's were running games like Half Life 2, Far Cry, and Doom 3 back in 2004. Those games still look better then a lot of 360 and PS3 games of today. As for the CPU side, a single core Athlon 64 performs better then the processors in any current gen console. Your friend is just in denial. Console vs. PC graphics
Lets put it this way. Console are called the ''next-generation'' of graphics. The 360 may have been upon release, but the PC is already a generation ahead of both the PS3 and the 360. There's a reason why high end graphics cards cost more than an entire console :P.
maybe i just need to see it for myself but ive never really tripped out on graphics with the pc. the first time i tripped out on gfx is when i saw consoles. it maybe due to the fact that the gfx cards that ive seen games in are paltry, but i guess seeing is believing
A E4500/HD 2600XT rig can deliever better grafx can 360 or PS3,i know because i have them :wink:

First off, ignore what karasill said about the CPU. Each CPU in every console has its own pros and cons. For example, the 360's CPU can multitask better than a single core AMD.As for graphics, consoles were better until recently, when Crysis came out. See, the hardware has always been better for PC, just not many games pushed the hardware to the limit.

There are articles and even threads here on SW's stating how bad the CPU's are for gaming in these consoles.You're so wrong about console graphics being better until Crysis. As I recall the PC versions of Prey, Quake IV, Oblivion, FEAR, Call of Duty 4, Bioshock, Orange Box, the list goes on...ALL look and/or run better on a good gaming PC. Some of those games that I listed are 2 years old btw.
I'm a console gamer. Trying to get into PC gaming currently. I have a 360 and PC games will always have the best graphics.
It's a battle not worth fighting, people in school always make dumb remarks like ''why would you want to buy it on the PC, the graphics are better on 360/PS3'' ''Consoles have high-definition''
I have an xbox 360, ps3 and have just bought a good gaming pc. In my opinion the best graphics go to the pc second the xbox, followed by the ps3. My pc has got a nvidia9600gt graphics card and graphics look far better than any console in hd.
Wii is outdated, Ps3 has a 7800GT slimmed down, the Cell which can't be compared to anything on PC. The 360 has an early 2900XT as the GPU, the CPU can't be compared either since it's IBM PowerPC in-order CPU.

What a bunch of noobs, console has better graphics than a PC? Yeah, right. I'm sure they never heard of AA filters, or higher res than 720. Damn.. High-definition, don't make me laugh. A console never had better graphics than a PC and never will.
