ati HD 4870 power supply ?

Ok, here is the deal. People have been saying that my performance should be high with my hd 4870, I should have consistent 70 fps on Tf2, and at least 60 fps on quake wars. Sometimes my performance is half of that.So I think I have found the culprit. Is it my 480 watt 31 amp powersupply- its a Rosewill stallion series. ati HD 4870 power supply ?
What CPU do you have and how much RAM?ati HD 4870 power supply ?
What CPU do you have and how much RAM?
Hey man, your the same person who's been helping me out all week. I have the e4300 at 3.0 ghrtz, my 3dmark 06 score was 12680.Im returning this card anyways, I already ordered my arctic cooling s1 rev 2 cooler for my 8800gt, I think this power supply cannot handle this beast of a video card.

The HD4870 is about 150w idle, 290-300w load. I hope that helps. With a 480w power supply, you are definitely short on power. Not only that, you're stressing out your PSU and PC with very little to no headroom on power supply. It's always good to have at least 100w headroom.
550W is good, or 650
Oh ok, so basically im running an unstable system. I get what you all mean, at least my 8800gt is alot more power efficient.
I think you are fine with your power supply. I don't know about Quake Wars, but TF2 will definitely dip into the low 40s and 30s when you play on a 32 player server and there is so much action going on.

Unless you are talking about his entire system.

Hi Not to start trouble but according to this site the 4870 is a buck fifty.http://www.gpureview.com/radeon-hd-4870-card-564.html
Oh man. I feel so silly now. All this time, I always thought GPUs took more power. My apologies to everyone.
