im pretty much a hardware noob I just need a good cheap graphics card for my computerim not really into gaming but i need one more for the sake of my computer runningmines came with a NVIDIA Geforce 7000m and its not cutting it for vista and my deskscapesany suggestions? also do i need a special card for a laptop? like a smaller one?Is a good graphics card under $100 possible?
Are you using a notebook, or a desktop that uses notebook parts? In that case you cannot upgrade your video card, no matter what people say. Is a good graphics card under $100 possible?
A HD3850 or 9600GSO/8800GS are all under $100 and good cards.

no its a normal compaq laptop from walmart...lolis it upgradable?
Ok, so it is a laptop. That means no, you cannot upgrade anything in it. You need to have a desktop to upgrade the graphics card.
no its a normal compaq laptop from walmart...lolis it upgradable?
no, your stuck with the video card already in there. You could upgrade the RAM if you wanted to. But im not sure if you would see much of a difference.
damn... alright thanks anywayby the way any of you wanna buy a compaq laptop?:P
oh what does 1024 ddr2 mean?does it mean i have 1024mb x 2 or is it just dual channel?
It means you have 1024MB, or 1GB, of DDR2 memory (as opposed to DDR or DDR3).
if you have 1024 mbs of memory and you have vista then you have a serious problem! You neeed to upgrade your ram to 2000mbs or moreAlso DDR2 is the kind of memory...its just faster than DDR thats all
damn it my computer suckswell whats cpu and how can i increase that if i can?sorry for asking so many questions...
all rightynew question!anybody know a good RAM for under $100?
No problem for that just go here: http://www.corsair.com/configurator/default.aspxFill in everything and it will show you compatable ram for your computer and it should be well under $100 unless you want like 4gb or something. I recommend you only get 2gb which should be about $50.Do note that this will probably not help that much with gaming. What it will definetely help speed up is multitasking, like browsing the web while itunes is running.
4GB can be gotten for easily less than $100, as low as or below $50 if you can find a set with a good MiR. You don't need to go to Corsair's website, just go to Newegg. Also, it will help with gaming. It decreases loading times and often stuttering, as well.
