Turn a wheel mouse into a laser mouse?

Can this be done? I just want to put my logitech laster mouse into my HP mouse, I have no money and need or more so want a new mouse!Can this be done? Or will there be software issues and the like. Turn a wheel mouse into a laser mouse?

The internals of the mouse are designed for and around the specific system used.
