wireless PCI card issue and questions
I'm guessing that my problem is with my wireless card. Sometimes when my computer boots, the card doesn't start up, thus forcing me to restart my computer. Upon the restart the card always works...Also, sometimes the wireless card starts up and everything shows it is in working order; the Subnet Mask, IP Address and Gateway all verify my connection to the router, however I cannot get any web pages to load up. When this happens I have to do a scan for all local wireless networks around me (21 pop up) and then I have to pick mine and re-enter the 10 digit Encryption Key - this resets my card and a few seconds later, I can access the internet.Seems to me, that this wireless card that came with my PC (free. My computer was a pre-built one I ordered 3 years ago that I've pretty much updated everything inside the computer myself - MB, RAM, GPU, CPU, PSU and a few extra fans) when I ordered it. It's a no-name brand card and I'm guessing the card is the problem. My wife can access the wireless router with her MacBook Pro every time she turns it on...Anyone else confirm that my wireless card is probably the culptrit?Next question(s):Should I get a new wireless PCI card or should I look into getting one of those USB wireless adapters? Is one better then the other?Any help would be greatly appreciated.
