whats this about the x2800xtx?

i was following it for about a month, that amd r600, and all of a sudden, people are calling it the x2800xtx, is this true? When did this happen?...will it still have the 750/2200 MHz and 1gb/512 specs? Will AMD be the brand name, or will it still be ATi Radeon? Wow, one week on vacation and see how much i miss...

if vrzone is right, that x2800xt is looking real nice, same specs as the x1950xt but with twice the ram and bit and dx10....

is all this confirmed?

ps, i dont trust wikipedia.

thanks

It is still pretty much rumors still, though most of it seems plausible.

[/QUOTE] Not the same spex as a x1950, its different technology and alot more to it. x2800xtx is supposed to compete with the next gen nVidia card...the 8900gtx. ACcording to the numbers that is. If you go by the numbers, then the x2800xtx will mop the floor with the 8800gtx. Its also 12'' long and comes with a handle to install the card with. Its a biiiiig card.

That's insane... How am I gonna fit it in my case?

But yeah, some rumor sites have the R600 named as the X2000 series (following with XT, GT, PRO and XTX).
Also I should have added this

The XTX will be in 1gb variations and looks to be the only dual slotted cooler of the new x2800 series.  the XT, XL and GT all come in single slot heatsink form.  The XTX is 1gb and the GT is 1gb and 2gb variations.  The GT for those numbers would be a special order card.  The XT and XL look to be 512mb, but rumor has it the XL could see a 1gb version.  They will be revising the XTX to make it shorter, but have already cut down on it from 14'' to 12''.  The rest of the cards are all 9'' long.  The XL and GT will be running DDR3 RAM it looks like, while the XTX and XT run on DDR4.

So they're all gonna be called X2800 [x]?

What about some of the more mainstream options? Are we gonna have an X2650 XT?

yes they will be, but you wont see those till around May. They need to get in there as nVidia has domintating the midrange. I think ATI will get in there, but i dont think ATI will have the prices nVidia has.
Argh.

Hopefully, if they can offer a DX10 substitute to the X1900GT, they're set. That'll be AMD's bread and butter in the GPU market.

Actually ATi should be very competitive this time around in the mid-range, which is actually looking at an April release. ATi's mirange cards will be of the 65nm nature meaning they should be somewhat cheap.

wow thats insane, so you just named like 4 X2xxx cards that can go 1gb+. I think i might get the x2800xt or the xl...
i feel bad for the 8800gtx guys who had a couple of months to laff at the x1950xtx...

ps, so the gt is more high end than the xtx?

The GT is going to be the GP/GPU variant, I believe.

ahhh i didnt read that. thanks man. i know that they have to be competitive in that area, cause they really havent been in a while. What I like about what AMD is diong to ATI, is straightening them out. No more soft launch, no more mediocre midrange. I think that with how good we see these cards looking on paper, that what would be a Pro line for highend usually, could be dropped down to mid. I dont know about he pricing being as competitive as nvidia, but it should be lower. Maybe not off the bat either.
hmm, 8 pin. interesting. so 9 inches is about the size of a...1950xtx. geez, i thought that card was huge.
x2800xt 512/512 looks good, but im confused about the gt, so its basically the x2800xtx, but instead of using gddr4, it uses gddr3 and a smaller pcb?

its a specialty card, you will have to read about it in that link Lord provided. The 8pin connector will come with the XT, XL and GT. While the XTX uses 2 x 6 pin pcie connectors.
ya i did, ''and this is the R600 chip combined with cheap and massively available GDDR-3 memory.''
so 750core 1100 mem 512/512 gddr3, wow, thats not bad at all, and its the ''lowest'' of the 4 the article introduced. if all this holds up, amd deserves a big pat on the back

You do realize that is completely fake and total BS...

I mean come on, didn't it tip you off just a little that they guy reviewing this can't even spell ridiculous correctly?

lol directx12? infinite length vertex pixel programs? this looks like it came from 2012...
For those of you who think this is fake I would like to point out the pictures on page 3 prove its real!http://www.jjman.org/modules/sections/index.php?op=viewarticle%26artid=28%26page=3
