I need a new keyboard, for my current one is a generic HP keyboard :(. Can any of you guys recommend a good gaming keyboard, preferrably in the 50-70 dollar price range? Oh and please don't bother mentioning the G11 or G15, my desk's sliding keyboard thing isn't big enough to fit those.Recommend me a good gaming keyboard...
$70 on a keyboard? :o *passes out*Recommend me a good gaming keyboard...
Saitek makes some good Keyboards.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823175005 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823175103 Cheap Slim one, with backlights.http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823175104
Paying a large ammount of money for a gamming keyboard is like spending an obscene ammount of money on a knife just for making smoked turkey sandwiches. No point at all in doing it, a cheap one works just fine.(I've been using a $20 logitech from two years ago, still works like a dream)
People buy these keyboards and they will last a long time. They cost more, for the backlights and the different other features as well as construction.Saitek makes good Solid keyboards with metal bindings instead of plastic, thus they cost more. Its like buying a case, why not buy a piece of crap thin layer of metal case that cost 20 dollars instead of a Case with LED lights, good ventalation, several fans, and a side window panel to see whats inside? Its all about preference If someone has the money, they can do whatever they want with it lol.
Do NOT go with Saitek keyboards. The keys fade off really quickly.I've always been a Razer fan, so I would recommend the Razer Lycosa or it's big brother, the Razer Tarantula.

i recommend the razer lycosa, backlit, slim and sexy, and in ur price range
Agreed..the Razer Lycosa is reasonably small as well so it should fit your computer desk nicely.
Wow, I only expected like 2-3 people to reply to this post. Thanks for all the great recommendations, you guys! I agree with drucom, Razer products are nice, and I've been looking into the Lycosa lately... Though, I don't agree with you guys about the Saitek keyboards' buttons fading. My bro has had his Saitek Eclipse keyboard for about a year now and it's about in the same condition now as it was back when he purchased it. I'll probably go with the Lycosa, I really like the slimness of the buttons and such... or perhaps the Saitek Eclipse II, I liked that one too.

After using my IBM Model M, I will not go back to some 7 US$ budget rubber-dome keyboard. Many others feel the same way.
Luckily, this board only cost me...what was it, 25 US$ plus shipping? That was mostly because it was a used, refurbished board sold on eBay. Mechanical keyswitch boards often cost 60-100+ US$ if you want a new one due to how complex and expensive they are to produce.
Admitted, Model Ms and most other clicky/mechanical boards aren't billed as gaming keyboards (except for that upcoming Gigabyte gaming keyboard that uses mechanical keyswitches of some sort). They don't have anti-ghosting technology, don't have macro keys (at least not Model Ms; OmniKey Ultras/Avant Stellars have reprogrammable keys), don't have backlights, and definitely don't have LCD screens (let alone OLED keys ala Optimus Maximus). However, what they do have are keys that feel nice to press down, as well as a very durable design that'll probably last much longer than your PC ever will. (Case in point-the Model M I'm typing on was made in 1989, and here I am using it in 2008! It certainly doesn't feel like it will give up the ghost soon, either.)

[/QUOTE]Negitive ! ....I bought my Saitek Eclipse over 2 years ago and it's held up perfect to this day...not one problem, and I use it hard daily....it's a great keyboard for gaming or otherwise.*+
this one looks good. not too expensive. kind funky though have to hit the scroll lock key to turn on the back lighting. i might end up buying it. need a cool keyboard for my new rig
Razer Tarantula is good
get a cheap one. Just make sure you examine all the buttons in the screenshots to make sure they are in the right places and are large enough to be good for gaming. I recently got a logitech mx5000 keyboard, and its keys were garbage (F keys were tiny, and the volume control was next to useless)... and now I am back to using my microsoft keyboard.
