1st Qns:I currently have an Acer F945PL Mainboard and a Pentium D processor. Is this motherboard able to support a Core 2 Duo processor?2nd Qns:Is there any other graphics card which is better or has the same performance than the Nvidia 8800GT and also cheaper? An 8800GT cost $200+ in my country.Motherboard, Graphics Card, Processor Qns
Lol googling that motherboard does not bring up a single english page  But yea I think it will support the older 65nm Core 2 Duo's, doubt it would support Quad's or 45nm though but I'm not too sure. And no, there's nothing better than an 8800gt for less money, the 4850 is better but also more expensive.Motherboard, Graphics Card, Processor Qns
Acer doesn't make motherboards, that's most likely a re-badged ASUS or Foxconn board, but certain 945 chipset boards do indeed support Core 2 chips (with a BIOS update), and the fact that you have a Pentium D is encouraging in that respect. I'd get a program like CPU-Z that tells you exactly what motherboard you have. If you can upgrade to a Core 2 Duo, the Allendale-core chips are your safest bet. Regarding the graphics card the 9600GT is very close in terms of performance to the 8800GT and will probably save you a fair bit of cash.
ye it will probably be foxconn with an intel chipset thats what i got with my acer, my specs are a lot better tho i upgraded a fair part of it since :P
I'll let you know I was able to buy a Radeon HD 3850 for ?2.99, and I've seen it go for $100 before. Better preformance and much cheaper.

xxLordDavidxx : lol the 3850 isnt even close to the 8800 gt !! go for the 9600 gt i think
