Liquid Cooling (for this system)?

I'm about to build myself a new PC, like most people here. I've been saving up forever, and plan to deck it out completely with a QX9770 3.2 GHz, GTX 280 and 4 GB DDR3 memory, and also intend to overclock it. So, the setup will be pretty powerful... but also pretty hot. I air condition my room into arctic tundra to sustain my current 5 year old desktop that's overclocked to hell so it can keep up with the times, but I don't know if thats enough. Thus, I'm considering using liquid cooling... but I've heard from a lot of people that it isn't neccessary, and that I should just get high end fans. In the case of this PC, would it would be a good investment? Or should I just use good fans and hope for the best?I plan on keeping this thing for a long time as well. So I'd like whoevers reading this to also consider which form of cooling lasts longer, not just what's colder. I'm not very familiar with the longevity of liquid cooling systems, and if someone could enlighten me, that'd be great. Liquid Cooling (for this system)?
Would you be just cooling the CPu or also the GTX 280? either way it will add a minimum of $250-$400 To your build.Liquid Cooling (for this system)?
Would you be just cooling the CPu or also the GTX 280? either way it will add a minimum of $250-$400 To your build.
Probably both. I'm not really so much worried about price (because, like I said, I've been saving for about 5 years). I'm concerned more about how troublesome it would be to install liquid cooling, and how long the system would last if I did.
Well it would most likely last ass you long as you have your hardware. And the difficulty would depend on what case your using. (Mounting rads, pumps, and the res.) So if you can tell me what case your using and your cooling budget. I can put together a nice kit for you.
Imo, it is better to spread out your budget over time, instead of buying a one time super pc to try to last half a decade. For example, say you spent $4,000 on a pc now, no matter what, in 4 years it would be crap, barely able to play the latest games like your current situation. But if you spent 2 grand on a pc now, you'd still pretty much max everything for quite a while, and then still be able to have another 2 grand to do significant upgrades down the road, or even a whole new pc, that would still be good 4+ years from now. That way you get to play games on high settings continuously for 4 years for the same price, instead of going from high, to medium and then hating life at low. Replaced parts will also be worth a lot more in resale value with shorter time periods between upgrades, further stretching your budget.. Anyway just a thought, but that's what I try to do since I'm not wealthy, and I freakin hate playing games below my desired res.
It's worth every penny when you think about it. I spent $50 for a heatsink for my $200 processor. For what your spending for a processor it would cost you a little more percentage wise to liquid cool it and it will keep it cooler almost silently.
