Doesn't really matter if your rig is a beast; however, if your computer is like mine and has a 1 GB of ram, then go for XP.

Ya it really depends how powerful your computer is, if you have more then 2GB of memory Vista if less then that xp and the CPU also. In other words it doesn't really matter.
If you want to play the newest games, get Vista. If you only care about games that are a few years old, either one works. I would get Vista in any case, because game manufacturers are making some games for Vista only.
I noticed a huge difference when going from Vista to XP.
