NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT question

this is probably a stupid question, and sorry if a similar topic has been posted. again stupid question, but does this card require the pcie power input from the psu? just need to know if it does because if it does, i need to get a molex to pcie adapter.stupid psu not coming standard with a pcie power connection.NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT question
No, the 8600GT does not require an external power connector (the 8600GTS does). What kind of power supply do you have though? It must be something pretty old (or pre-built) to not have a PCI-e connector.NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT question
This is my power supplyits not the greatest thing, but it should be enough for what im trying to build. thanks for the info about the card, saved me about ......$5 lol but hey thats $5 more that i dont have to spend lol
Honestly? That power supply should be just fine with a more powerful card. Look into something like the 8800GS, 9600GSO, HD3850, or 9600GT. They're all very cheap, and should be just fine on that power supply with an adapter.
its all good. the video card got to the house yesterday, but my wife has no clue about computer hardware, so she couldnt tell me if the card looked like it had a power plug on it. probably didnt help that i wouldnt let her take it out of the antistatic wrap to get a good look. as far as my comp, i not to concerened with it being future proof or being able to bend crysis over and spank it. its more of a project to see that i can build one with minimal issues. this comp is my first build. wish me luck.
Aim for the HD4670, much better than the 8600gt and doesnt need a pci-e connector.
that....link.......not in english....... WHY?!?!?!?!?!?!
